A young woman traveling ended up in a prison-like Airbnb stay that was nothing like its original listing. We unravel her nightmare in Bali.
When was the last time you booked or bought something online that didn’t live up to its expectations? Sometimes it’s just a little thing, like a dress you thought would fit better. But other times, it’s a game-changer … like an Airbnb that’s nothing like its listing. I travel a lot, but my biggest travel fear is paying money for something that isn’t what it seems, like a botched flight booking or an unlivable hotel room.

Airbnbs are tricky — in many countries, they’re now illegal as a way to not drive up rent prices, but the website will still operate. There’s no way to properly see and vet the property before booking, so there’s no way of knowing if what you see is really what you get. And TikToker Hatty Morton (@hattymorton) definitely got something completely different from what she booked in Bali. So, she documented her Airbnb nightmare on TikTok.

Hatty warns to “always triple check your Airbnbs” after likening her nightmare Bali Airbnb to a prison.
After seeing what Hatty went through, we’re honestly afraid. In a five-second video showcasing her “Airbnb” in Bali, Hatty wrote, “Gentle reminder: Always triple check your Airbnbs when staying in Bali just in case you end up in the same prison cell as we did that night.” She then shows us exactly that — a cement cell with the bare minimums.
The room (if that) is covered in mold and has no furniture, no decor, and barely any windows. There’s a toilet and a showerhead in a block room with no towels or racks. The bed isn’t a bed at all, but just a block of wood. And if you’re thinking, “She should’ve checked the reviews,” you better think twice because our girl did check the reviews.

People can make a lot of money off of an Airbnb scam, and Hatty is clearly a victim of one of those scams. When commenters asked for a comparison with the listing, it became clear that the listing was probably an AI-enhanced version of the actual place. Hatty also shared that she paid 50 euros per night, which may sound cheap but might be on the high end of pricing in Bali.

Commenters quickly shared their horror and fear at the sketchy Airbnb situation.
Usually, when an influencer or TikToker likens their Airbnb to a prison, they’re overexaggerating, but Hatty is definitely not hyperbolizing. One commenter even said, “Girl did you book a room at Kerobokan?” Kerobokan is one of the biggest prisons in Bali with a long and complicated history of riots.

People thought she might have been joking, that the space had been robbed or vandalized, or that there was a fire. That’s legit how scary it looked. When they said to read the reviews, Hatty not only read them, but they were good reviews! She explained, “The reviews honestly were like ‘lovely and clean.’” Clearly, those reviews were bots, but it’s always hard to tell when you’re looking for a good place to stay!

Other people chastised Hatty for staying in an Airbnb in Bali. Some TikTokers said they don’t use Airbnb at all anymore, while one said, “Maybe don’t get an Airbnb in a third-world country.” However, Bali is a popular vacation destination so plenty of people do book Airbnbs.

For the most part, however, people were empathetic. Some shared stories of their own travel struggles, while others worried about their future Bali bookings. But check all Airbnb bookings — not just in Bali!
A TikTok user claims their manager accused them of being a drug addict after finding an insulin syringe in her backpack.

Being a manager who has been tasked with “running a tight ship” can often be a daunting and thankless task. Sure, you receive a pay bump that comes with greater responsibilities, but oftentimes you can be put in a position where the employees who work under your supervision can resent you, and your workplace superiors will often give you an inordinate amount of work to do.

You’re put in a position where you’re receiving flak from both sides, which can lead to some pretty high-stress scenarios. And while there are some bosses workers absolutely adore, there are others who are doing whatever they can to make a company profitable and allow that to cloud their judgment when it comes to enforcing certain policies.
And then there are those who act in ways that leave people wondering just how in the world they were ever even considered for a promotional experience in the first place. Like this encounter, a TikTok user had with her boss that many people are saying was entirely out of line and possibly illegal.

TikToker Abby Gebo, who posts under the handle @thegebos, uploaded a now-viral clip about an interaction she had with her boss regarding her insulin medication. She captioned the video with the following: “diabetic storytime.”

Abby said that her manager had looked through her backpack for whatever reason and found a syringe in there. Maybe because he was watching a lot of The Wire or just saw Trainspotting, but he instantly assumed that the syringes were being used for intravenous recreational drug use.

Abby says that her manager spoke to a coworker about the backpack, stating that he was going to look into the needles further. When he confronted Abby about the bag, she said that he told her he “really expected better from her.”
The statement left the TikToker bewildered.

Then her manager asked her outright if she was doing drugs. “Do I look like I’m doing drugs?” Abby rejoined. She went on to remind her boss that she was diabetic, a fact about her that Abby says he was already aware of.

He didn’t immediately accept that explanation, however, stating that his own niece was a diabetic and never used needles, just pumps in order to give herself insulin.
“OK um, I can’t wait to sue you, but some people can’t afford pumps and have to use like vials and syringes,” Abby retorts in her video.

The TikTok user’s interactions with her manager only got worse from there when he demanded that she prove to him she was using insulin. She noted to her viewers on the social media platform that even though she didn’t have to offer up proof of her medical condition, she did so anyway, presenting her vials of insulin to him.

“You’re lucky, but I’m watching you,” Abby says her boss told her, adding that he was ensuring that none of the staff under his employ were abusing recreational drugs.
Abby quit her job that very day and many commenters who responded to her TikTok mentioned that it was illegal for her boss to not only look through her stuff, but question her about her medical condition.

In fact, under the Americans with Disabilities Act, it’s illegal for any employer to discriminate against a worker for having a disability or medical condition. Many who saw Abby’s video believe that if what she’s saying is true then her manager was in direct violation of this law, which could fall under a Federal offense.

Now that iOS17 has rolled out, many users are eager to actually start using the emojis themselves and are wondering when they might become available.
“Are there seriously no new emojis with iOS17?” one person asked, clearly confused by the delayed rollout.
In fact, this new iOS will actually have way more new emojis than the last update did. When iOS16 first rolled out, it only came with 16 new emojis.

For many, though, these new technologies pale in comparison with the ability to add a little phoenix to a text or post on social media, and understandably so.

In the livestream, which has since been posted in full, Courtney is handling her mail while inside the post office in Broken Arrow, Okla. The clip begins innocently as Courtney is examining her packages before shipping them. Here’s what went down.
Woman thinks she was almost abducted and got it all on video.
Although the video starts off normal, it quickly takes a shocking turn. A woman enters from outside the frame and explains that she was lost and looking for help. “I’m lost but I don’t speak English very good,” the unidentified woman says. “I don’t know where I can go.”

Courtney attempts to give directions but the woman suggests that she was unsure how to get to her destination from the post office. Courtney then offers to take the woman home and then the encounter gets weird.
The video cuts to Courtney having a conversation with the woman and suggests that the woman contact a highway patrol officer to help her find her way home. Courtney continues to ask the woman where she was coming from but wasn’t able to get additional information. The woman simply repeated “I’m lost.”

A police officer then entered the building, but it isn’t clear who contacted the authorities. After Courtney recorded the livestream, her followers immediately requested a follow-up video.
@courtkneee2point0
why would someone show up to a CLOSED post office to ask for directions when there’s 24-7 Qasim stations (quick trip) all around us. I had just come back in from getting something from my car. did she (or they) see that I was alone and pregnant? I felt so uncomfortable. @🎰SLOT🎰7.0 I was enjoying listening to you call out a scammer in the background. lol

Courtney was unharmed in the potential abduction.
After Courtney posted the video of what she believes was an abduction attempt, her 16,000 TikTok followers demanded she provide an update on her wellbeing. “Please share a part two. The more awareness the better,” one person wrote. While others were thankful that Courtney was livestreaming the incident.

In the second half of the livestream, which Courtney posted later, the responding police officer escorts the woman out of the post office. It isn’t clear whether the woman was truly lost, but the officer was presumably able to help her get to her destination.
Courtney then explained that she went to the post office after dark to ship out packages for her customers. However, Courtney decided not to finish the task and left the post office out of fear that she was being watched.

Other attempted abductions have been caught on camera.
Courtney had every right to weary of the lone woman in the post office, as kidnapping attempts have been captured on video in abundance. In January a video showing an man attempting to pull a barista through a Starbucks drive-thru window went viral. The video, shared by the Auburn Police Department, shows a man in a pickup truck grabbing an employee and attempting to place zip ties on her wrists.
