There are tons of metrics put into the amount of time employees work while they’re on the clock, along with analytics that delves into the metrics of how much money is lost per employee for tardiness.
Of course, these metrics really depend on the industries that are being analyzed. Full-time employees typically work more than 40 hours per week in the US across various types of businesses.

Things get a bit more granular when you consider that some periods of time are busier than others. For instance, if you work at University Computer Help Desk, you’re probably going to get inundated with more password reset and account set-up requests at the beginning of each semester as opposed to the middle of one or right before the holidays/finals.
But there are some companies that keep strict time cards and really zero in on whether or not employees are sticking to those times or not. Like a business that Redditor @jade__99 worked for who said that they once worked for a boss that equated being one minute late to work as being out the entire day.

Jade posted the story to Redditor r/maliciouscompliance sub and said that when they found out they were going to be late one day, instead of just showing up a few minutes tardy, they simply called out sick.

That probably didn’t go as intended for the boss.

The Redditor stated that they worked for the business for about two years and never once had any issues brought up about their work attendance or being tardy. Then, around the time they were fielding workers for a promotion, they said that their boss began bringing up all the instances that they were one minute late to work.

It’s an eye-rolling thought.

It’s an eye-rolling thought, especially when you consider that the boss even mentioned the single minutes they were late coming back from their lunches. To top it all off, Jade says that even though they only used two of their sick days in those two years, those still counted against them for their promotion.

Others shared their experience with similar bosses.

The amount of total late time they had accrued resulted in about 5-10 minutes, and the boss decided to write them up for their tardiness and stated that they wouldn’t be considered for the promotion until there was another review. This is despite the fact that they were still attending training seminars for said promotion.

Fast forward to a day, Jade was having “car issues” and if they decided to get back to their house to work from home (they are expected in office 4 days a week) then they would’ve only been a minute or two late.
If they decided to go into the office for the day they would’ve been about 20 minutes into their shift already.

So the Redditor, considering that their boss counted a single minute late as being gone for the whole day, ultimately decided that they would take a sick day as the day would be counted as them being “absent” from their duties anyway.

This user thought the practice might be illegal.

Jumping to promotion time: it turns out that the Redditor was given the higher position anyway. But their boss’ behavior didn’t sit right with them, so they decided to start applying elsewhere and then ultimately got themselves a job with a bigger salary as a result.

Other Reddit users who saw Jade’s post were shocked that the boss counted it as a strike against them for being sick, while others were happy they were able to get a new job away from such a petty manager.
What do you think? Have you ever worked for an employer who meticulously accounted for every minute their workers were on the clock?

In a viral video, Alexis — who is a teen mom of two toddlers — shared what she feeds her kids for dinner. On her kids’ plates were a handful of BBQ potato chips, pizza, and a side of fresh mixed fruit that she cut up by hand.
In other TikTok videos, Alexis prepares the kids’ breakfast and lunch, too. In fact, preparing “lazy 19-year-old mom” meals for her toddlers is kind of her niche.

Needless to say, not all parents would agree with Alexis’s meal plan for her kids. However, the realists in the room could relate. Instead of criticizing her, commenters flooded the post with uplifting words. “My son has Taco Bell and a donut for dinner. You’re doing great!”

“I know that I make a lot of people mad by what I choose to feed my kids. I feed them what I know that they like and what I know that they will eat,” Alexis explained. “Now, I’m not saying that I don’t introduce new foods to them. But if I see that they don’t like the food that I am giving them, I take a break and I don’t force that food onto them.”

The TikToker recalled: “As a kid growing up, I would be forced to eat something that I didn’t like, I would have to sit at the kitchen table until I ate the meal. And dealing with that, I became a very picky eater.”
“I was afraid to try new foods,” she added. “I don’t want to force my kids to eat stuff that they don’t like. I don’t want them to go through what I went through. As long as your kid is fed, that is all that matters.”

While some parents live in food deserts and are forced to feed their kids fast food out of necessity, Alexis is just feeding her kids junk because it’s easier. And I don’t know about you, but I have a problem with that. What do you think? Can a kid survive off McNuggets alone?

Ben Fab has been absent from recent videos on the Fab Rats YouTube channel, leading some to wonder why he decided to leave the shop.
The Gist:
Ben Fab has been a fixture in Fab Rats videos for years.
The Fab Rats channel recently announced that Ben would be leaving the shop to spend more time with his family.
Fans of the Fab Rats will miss Ben, but seem to understand why he made this decision.

The anchors of the Fab Rats YouTube channel have always been Paul Fab and his wife Lizzy, but another prominent member of their team was Ben, Paul’s brother, who worked at their shop with them. The Fab Rats YouTube channel is largely dedicated to videos about difficult tow jobs and rebuilds of old cars. Ben has been a huge piece of what the channel offered in recent years.

In a video posted on Sept. 27, 2023, the Fab Rats addressed Ben’s absence from recent videos. While they didn’t go into a ton of detail, they did explain that Ben would no longer be on the Fab Rats channel because he had left the shop. Now, many want to know why Ben decided to leave the shop and the channel behind.

Why did Ben leave Fab Rats?
At the beginning of their most recent video, Paul and Lizzy explain that Ben decided to leave Fab Rats in order to spend more time with his family. They said that while they were sad to see him go, they understood his decision, and said he still might pop up on the channel occasionally. The era of Ben appearing in videos regularly is over, though. Part of the reason is that his family lives pretty far away from where the videos are filmed.

In a separate post on Instagram, the Fab Rats made a similar announcement addressing Ben’s absence.

“Change can be hard and this has been one of the harder adjustments for us all,” the statement says. “We sure are going to miss having this guy in the shop but family is important and Ben’s family needed him. Lucky for us, we have Hunter and Sean around to help with all of the awesome upcoming projects.”
“Thanks to all of our amazing viewers/friends/Fab Rats family for the love and support you have given us. We appreciate you all more than you know,” the statement concluded.
It’s unclear whether there’s any tension between Ben and the rest of Fab Rats, but publicly it seems like Ben just wanted to spend less time at the shop and more time with his family, which is a choice all of us have to balance.

The Fab Rats certainly don’t plan to slow down, though, and their statement indicates that. As the comments under the post suggest, people loved Ben and understand his decision to leave.

“You know if you stick around long enough you always see people come and go in life. It was Randall now Ben but I’m sure it will not be the last we see either of them. We will all miss seeing you Ben, I wish you all the best!” one person wrote.
