The internet’s praising a group of drivers for coming together to block an “entitled” SUV from cutting into a long line of cars for an exit lane.

There are some folks who think that the rules of the road simply don’t apply to them, that they can do whatever they want, whenever they want. Turn on red despite there being a sign that explicitly tells them not to during certain times? Whatever.

Article continues below advertisement

Turn signals? Just a suggestion, and in no way means necessary. Yellow lights? Oh, you mean speed-up indicators?

One of the more annoying “entitled” driver behaviors, however, are the folks who love creeping up on a shoulder or outer lane in order to bypass traffic so they can make it to the exit faster than everyone else.

They clearly see that there’s a line of cars filled with people patiently waiting their turn to take a specific exit, so why do they think it’s all right to just drive up and wedge themselves in there in front of everyone else?

As is often the case, however, these boorish folks who were probably raised by people who have no business procreating, usually get their way and are able to sneak their car into the line in order to save themselves a few minutes on the road, leaving everyone else to suffer.

But not for these commuters.

A viral TikTok uploaded by a user who goes by Steph (@therealme0809) features a black SUV attempting to cut into an exit lane between a gray Toyota crossover and a blue Nissan Sedan.

However, the vehicles who waited their turn in the lane won’t give the black SUV any space and it appears that they coordinate their speed and distance to ensure that the person doesn’t jam their way into the lane.

Another car behind the crossover, a maroon-colored sedan, trails closely behind it, also preventing the black SUV from entering the line. It’s not long before it appears that folks start calling out the black SUV driver for trying to pull some funny business.

Cars start sounding off, honking like crazy, and all of the cars in the exit lane refuse to let the black SUV merge in a team effort that saw them blocked out.

Steph sums up the situation perfectly in a text overlay pasted onto the clip that reads: “Black entitled SUV was trying to cut in line”

Commenters who saw the clip were loving the group effort on display.

“That’s Nascar quality tailgating! Nice job,” one person wrote.

Another penned, “Lmfao i love this,” while someone else hoped that this same type of technical acumen, and driving energy, existed in their area: “I be wishing my city would do this”

However, someone else who started a conversation about “zipper merging” said that it’s this kind of behavior that is ultimately bad for the flow of traffic for everyone else and it’s better to simply let the person in.

“why can’t anyone do a proper zipper merge,” they wrote, which led to a conversation about how much of a goober the guy was being for trying to cut in line. But one TikTok user argued: “I would let him in so the traffic can flow behind him. Refusing to let him in contributes to the problem.”

Watching the vehicles in other lanes stutter and stop behind him in the clip, it’s easy to see where the TikToker is coming from with this argument.

What do you think? Would you let the person in if they’re refusing to move out of the other lane so as not to cause blockage for other drivers? Or do you think folks need to stand firm and let the person just re-route themselves further down the road?

Livestreamers and controversy seem to go hand in hand, but few have reached the level of infamy that Johnny Somali has in his career. According to Know Your Meme, he first established his online presence on YouTube back in 2011. He would later expand to channels like Twitch and Kick. As for his content, he mostly focused on traveling to Asian countries like Japan and Thailand. In 2023, however, he would come under fire for his inflammatory remarks while in Japan.

Starting in mid-May 2023, Johnny began trending on social media after he livestreamed himself harassing Japanese citizens with racist remarks. The backlash to his content became so severe that he even started getting attacked on the street by angry locals. Now, in a stroke of karmic comeuppance, Johnny Somali was arrested in Osaka. Johnny Somali was arrested in Japan after months of controversial livestreams.

Ever since arriving on an extended stay in Japan, Ramsey Khalid Ismael aka Johnny Somali began livestreaming himself as he threw out racist remarks against unsuspecting Japanese citizens in public. Much of his rhetoric included references to Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Pearl Harbor. As his comments intensified, so too did the response from Japanese citizens. On multiple occasions, Johnny was physically assaulted during his streams by Japanese people who were increasingly fed up with his antics.

After months of activity, he may have finally gotten what was coming to him. In late September 2023, Johnny Somali was arrested for trespassing at a construction site in Osaka while livestreaming.

According to a report by The Asahi Shimbun, he had broken into the area and harassed construction workers as they requested that he leave. Footage of the arrest was even captured during his broadcast, wherein Johnny attempts to start the “FreeSomali” hashtag. Jeremiah Dwane Branch was also arrested as an accomplice.

Folks on the internet are calling for Johnny Somali’s deportation following his Twitch ban.

As of this writing, details of the charges have yet to be disclosed. However, people across the internet are already calling for Johnny Somali and his accomplices to be deported back to the United States. In the comments section of a Japan Today article, one user wrote, “He should spend [a full sentence] and then be deported and blacklisted and sent back to the US where he can take his lack of skills and register for unemployment.”

Many argue that his trespassing could be grounds for deportation, but his overall content of hate against the Japanese could also very well work against him.

Online calls for his deportation come mere months after Japanese Twitch streamer Meowko called for him to be banned from his online platforms. He was already previously banned on Twitch for his behavior but has remained active on Kick.

In May 2023, Meowko was openly harassed by Johnny during her own broadcast while he was still banned from Twitch. According to Twitch guidelines, Meowko could have faced a potential ban of her own by featuring a banned Twitch member on her stream, even though he intruded on her stream without her consent. The exchange reportedly left Meowko in tears as she called for Johnny to lose the rest of his platforms.

“Victoria’s Secret Karen” Lawsuit Says She Was Mislabeled

Published

on

The legal teams for Abigail Elphick and Ijeoma Ukenta, have said the “Victoria’s Secret” Karen viral video wasn’t about race, as previously assumed.

Just the Gist:

  • Abigail Elphick and Ijeoma Ukenta were involved in a viral TikTok that gave Abigail the nickname “Victoria’s Secret Karen”
  • Abigail’s legal team states she suffers from multiple mental and physical health conditions.

  • Ijeoma sued Abigail and Victoria’s Secret in 2023 for reportedly being “extremely dismissive” during the ordeal.

Since 2020, the term “Karen” has been a social stigma on white women in U.S. society. The term spawned a meme and a character trait, as cases viral videos of white women threatening to call the police and other authorities on strangers who were notably Black or other people of color began emerging on TikTok and other platforms.

In July 2021, Abigail Elphick, a then-25-year-old white woman living in Milburn, N.J., found herself labeled as the “Victoria’s Secret Karen” after chasing a Black woman named Ijeoma Ukenta for recording her behavior in the famed lingerie store.

Two years after their “Victoria’s Secret Karen,” incident went viral, Abigail and Ijeoma filed lawsuits against one another, with Abigail stating the public mislabeled her and her intentions on that fateful day.

Legal filings revealed “Victoria’s Secret Karen” Abigail Elphick has a “long history of medical and psychological conditions.”

By now, millions of social media users have seen Abigail and Ijeoma’s viral TikTok exchange (and if you haven’t keep scrolling!), which involved Abigail hysterically crying as she begs Ijeoma “please don’t record me” and chasing Ijeoma around the store. In September 2023, Abigail and her legal team shared that the truth behind the video is vastly different than what viewers were led to believe.

According to The New York Times (via Yahoo), legal filings show that Abigail, who was quickly labeled Victoria’s Secret Karen on TikTok and other social platforms, was “disabled, with a long history of medical and psychological conditions” when she entered the Victoria’s Secret store.

Abigail’s team argues that her conditions prompted her “mental health breakdown” and that her behavior at Victoria’s secret wasn’t “race-based.” They stated Abigail was upset because she feared she would lose her job and her apartment, as she lives in a residence for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

The latter reportedly happened, as court records show Abigail received a call from a stranger threatening to rape and kill her, and other online users demanding she lose her internship as a local school district. The call prompted Tom Toronto, president of Bergen County’s United Way, the company that runs Abigail’s residence, to speak out in her defense.

“She has a disorder. She has anxiety,” he explained to The Times. “She had a meltdown. Then the world we live in took over, and it became something entirely different than what it actually was.”

Ijeoma Ukenta filed a lawsuit in July 2023 against Abigail and Victoria’s Secret.

Abigail’s September 2023 comments were in response to Ijeoma’s July 2023 lawsuit against Abigail and Victoria’s Secret.

On July 6, Ijeoma, a content creator, sued Abigail, Victoria’s Secret, and the store’s security guards. Ijeoma stated in her complaint that the store’s security “were extremely dismissive toward her,” and were “indifferent and nonchalant about her concerns for her safety.”

Amid Ijeoma’s filing, Abigail’s counterclaim accused Ijeoma of “harassment” for discussing her and Abigail’s altercation online.

Since the “Victoria’s Secret Karen” video went viral, Ijeoma has received flack for profiting off the incident.

Ijeoma’s GoFundMe and additional content surrounding her initial video caused many people following the story to raise their eyebrows. Several users, including Kasko Xero Vlogs stated she was using the incident for fame and money. In Abigail’s complaint, her lawyers accused her of making “a job out of preying on individuals from behind a keyboard,” and “inciting hate” online.

Ijeoma and her lawyer, Tracey Hinson, have defended the YouTuber profiting from her experience with Abigail. In 2021, Ijeoma said on X, formerly Twitter, that she was well within her rights to “make $ off MY videos if everyone else is.”

The entrepreneur’s attorney also believed it’s her client’s “right” to discuss the situation however she sees fit, especially after being deemed a liar by many in the Milburn community.

“She knew that in Millburn, New Jersey, she would not be believed,” Hinson stated. “And that is exactly what has transpired.”
