A gym is getting heat on social media after blaming one of its members for someone else sneaking into the facility.

One of the perks of 24-hour gym clubs like Anytime Fitness is that members can use their keyfobs to “tap” themselves into the facility at any time they like in order to get a workout in. There’s no need to check in with someone at the front or worry about opening/closing times — as long as you have your fob, you’re good.

Naturally, with access/entry models in businesses like that, there’s going to be a concern that there may be some folks who are trying to get in who aren’t paying for these services — one only has to worry about getting caught and being hit with charges for trespassing or theft of services.
Which is something that paying customers shouldn’t have to worry about. At least, that’s what a TikToker who goes by Alaness thought until the Anytime Fitness location he frequents in Singapore sent him a series of messages questioning another guest who used its facilities without keying in.

Alaness posted his interaction, along with the camera footage in a viral TikTok clip that’s garnered over 1.4 million views on the popular social media platform.

The video begins with a WhatsApp message conversation initiated by gym management which reads: “Hi Alan, on 28/08/2023 at 11.10pm you were seen entering the L4 gym. You did not close the door behind you, which resulted in an unidentified person coming in without tapping her keyfob.”
Management goes on to concede that while the errant gym-goer may’ve gained access to the facility at no fault of the TikToker, the business nonetheless appears to put the onus of identifying this free-gym-user on their paying customer, threatening an additional charge if they fail to prove this person (the mystery woman in question) is a fellow paid member.

The business’ message continues to threaten that OP will be banned from using all of their facilities if they cannot procure either payment or proof of the woman’s identity.
OP must’ve found this policy to be pretty bogus, writing back: “Hi this is very unfair to me, I always ensure I close the door but in this case the person alr was taking out her fob as I entered so I take it she will tab.”

He then adds: “So u want me to push her out n close the door on her n tell her pls tab urself before entering?” He then tells gym management that they have the gym outfitted with CCTV cameras, and that if they’re unable to identify the woman, then how are they going to be able to figure out who she is?
Gym management then shared image stills of the woman that they were able to capture on CCTV, stating that yes, he should’ve made sure that the woman didn’t enter the facility and he should’ve “urged her to exit and tap the keyfob before coming in behind [him],” adding that this was actually the gym’s policy and one that he agreed to follow upon signing up for their services.

OP writes in a text overlay of the video that he wasn’t even aware of the woman coming in behind him and that he “was very confused” by the entire situation.
Thus, he continued to let the business know how “unfair” it was and that he planned to appeal their decision, necessitating an in-person visit to the gym in the process.

He also asks the business for a full clip of the CCTV footage that they were referring to, which he appears to have gotten his hands on, as the TikTok clip then transitions to video of him using his keyfob to enter the gym.
OP contests that in the video, he doesn’t even look behind him once, indicating that it was impossible for him to know whether or not there was someone “tailing” him from behind.

He even provides “a better angle to show [he] didn’t notice her entering,” and more footage of the mystery woman working out. OP goes on to say that due to the way she immediately goes to stretching and selecting certain equipment to use upon entering the facility, that she is very well acquainted with it.

Despite the video evidence and OP’s exhortations against their penalty, he states, “I appeal for leniency as I said I really didn’t notice her. They insisted it was my responsibility to ensure the door closed. All written in the terms…”
Not wanting to be banned from the gym, the TikToker said that they ultimately forked over the cash because they would be traveling for a week and didn’t want to miss their payment window and risk getting banned for life.

The entire experience seems to have hardened him a bit, writing that anytime he visits the gym in the future, he will be anal retentive about ensuring no one trails behind without using their fob.

Users who saw the post shared in the TikToker’s outrage: one person remarked that it didn’t seem fair for paying gym members to act as the business’ “security” guards.
Another mentioned that because they have CCTV cameras then they should accuse the woman of unlawful entry themselves instead of asking OP to do that.
Who do you think is at fault in this scenario? Should OP have made it a practice to routinely check behind him, knowing that these are the restaurant’s policies? Or was the gym being a little too draconian in administering this penalty to one of their verified paying customers?
Facebook changed the color of their logo, and many people are starting to notice and wondering what led to the change in logo and color.

The Gist:
Facebook updated its logo on Sept. 20, 2023, with a deeper blue and some small changes to the “f” in the logo.
The changes were designed to make the logo more “electrifying” and “everlasting,” but they definitely aren’t major shifts.
The company also made slight updates to its wordmark to align it with the new logo.

Although it may not be as popular with younger generations as it once was, Facebook remains the most widely used social media service on the planet. As such, Facebook has remained remarkably consistent over the years, doing very little rock the boat or change up its platform so that users feel uncomfortable or confused.
On Sept. 20, 2023, Facebook made a change that many people may have overlooked. Now, as they open the app or look at it on their browser, though, they have realized that something seems different. The blue in the logo seems different, and many people want to know why.

Did Facebook change their blue?
Facebook did make a slight update to its logo, and the blue in the logo is now a bit darker. Additionally, they made a few minor changes to the “f” that are almost imperceptible unless you know where they are.
Meta, the company behind Facebook, explained the change by saying that they wanted to make a new logo that seemed “everlasting.”

“Our intention was to create a refreshed design of the Facebook logo that was bolder, electric, and everlasting,” the company said in a blog post. “Each of the distinctive, new refinements drive greater harmony across the entire design as a key element of the app’s identity. We’ve done this by incorporating a more confident expression of Facebook’s core blue color that is built to be more visually accessible in our app and provides stronger contrast for the ‘f’ to stand apart.”
The logo is certainly different, but it isn’t a radical change, which makes sense. According to Meta’s own statistics, Facebook is visited by a staggering 2 billion people every day, so a radical overhaul of the logo would likely cause a pretty significant disruption. They’ve updated the logo, but hopefully they haven’t made it any harder for all of their regular users to find the app on their phones.

Facebook also updated its wordmark.
In addition to updating its signature logo, Facebook updated its wordmark with a new font and a blue to match the logo.
“Using our custom typeface, Facebook Sans, we redesigned the wordmark and logo to create a consistent treatment and improve overall legibility across Facebook,” Meta explained.
“Similar to the changes to the logo symbol, these refinements allowed us to build upon the heritage of our identity, while creating a stronger relationship between how the wordmark pairs with the rest of the typeface,” the company continued.
Facebook did change its blue, but apparently, the company is hoping that this new blue will last forever. Check back on that in five years.

Many of us have difficult things from our pasts that define us today, and Moriah Plath of Welcome to Plathville is no different. In her case, however, her childhood diagnosis of alopecia was hidden away for years — until now.
Although the reality star once tried to pretend that this upsetting time in her life never happened, she is coming to terms with having lost all of her hair as a kid.

Moriah Plath’s alopecia diagnosis truly shaped who she was for many years.
As other sufferers know, alopecia is a type of hair loss that occurs on the scalp, face, and body, per the American Academy of Dermatology Association. It can begin at any age, and for Moriah, at age 3, she received her diagnosis.

“I would look myself in the mirror and I would say, ‘You are ugly. Nobody will ever love you,’” she heartbreakingly recalls during an episode of the show.
She goes on to explain, “I lost all my hair for several years completely, not even eyebrows or eyelashes,” per People.

Moriah, who described herself as “completely bald,” shared more about her experience with the incurable disease, saying during the show, “The doctors said it was alopecia but it was like a rare kind of alopecia cause it just all fell out immediately and came back years later. Everywhere I went, I was made fun of by kids my age: [at] church, [by] my siblings. And that’s when I really started to see myself as different.”

Moriah tried to block out her alopecia experience when her hair came back.
Moriah was seemingly in denial about having had alopecia, relaying that “every single one of my family members knew never to show a picture of me when I was younger to anybody. And never to tell anybody.”
Moriah admitted she wanted to “block” out the very hard time in her life, and in one scene of Welcome to Plathville, she says to her father that when her hair returned, she decided to “forget” about the alopecia.
Moriah’s parents Barry and Kim made her feel “beautiful” when she had alopecia.

In a moving Instagram post shared in May 2023, Moriah said about her father Barry Plath, “He’s shown me the meaning of unconditional love.”
Moriah’s parents were very supportive during her struggles with alopecia.
Indeed, it seems that during the years she had alopecia, Barry and his ex-wife Kim were a source of support for their daughter.
“I think you and mom were the only ones that actually told me I was beautiful,” Moriah tells Barry on the episode.
Still, her parents couldn’t make her pain go away completely. “For a while I was angry because you guys couldn’t fix it and you were my parents and you were supposed to fix it, but you couldn’t,” she shares.
Today, it seems that Moriah is more comfortable with her past, since she is addressing the experience with the condition on a TV show. Since as many as 160 million people around the world suffer from alopecia, there’s no doubt that the reality star opening up about her own diagnosis will help others feel more seen.
