Survivor Winner Adam Klein’s Casting Drama, Explained

Published

on

What is the casting drama with ‘Survivor’ winner Adam Klein? His casting coaching service came under fire from CBS’s casting department.

The Gist:

  • Adam Klein won Survivor in the past and has started a casting coach business.
  • Three of Adam’s clients were cast on Survivor 45.
  • Survivor casting director Jesse Tannenbaum said that hiring someone to help with an audition video is a waste of money.

As we gear up for Survivor 45, past Survivor winner Adam Klein’s casting service is making the social media rounds once again. But this time, it seems like CBS Casting Director Jesse Tannenbaum has fired shots at the ex-winner. After Adam revealed that three of his clients were cast on Season 45 of Survivor, Jesse said on Instagram, “You don’t need to hire a company or anyone to help you with your audition video.”

Regardless, some people are desperate to get onto Survivor (or The Amazing Race and Big Brother) and will do whatever it takes to make that happen. In some cases, that means they’ll pay hundreds of dollars to casting coaches, which Jesse seemed to take a dig at. So is there any drama between Jesse and Adam, or is it just speculative?

CBS Casting Director Jesse Tannenbaum said applicants don’t need to pay anyone to get on ‘Survivor.’

On Sept. 7, 2023, Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X winner Adam Klein shared that three of his clients, Brandon, Kaleb, and Brando, were cast on Survivor 45. On Sept. 12, Jesse posted on his Instagram story, “Attention to all reality show applicants: You don’t need to hire a company or anyone to help you with your audition video or to give you casting advice.”

“It’s like the Barbizon School of Modeling … A waste of your money! Free tips from me, a casting director, on each of my show’s websites. Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race.” Many in-the-know fans interpreted this as a dig at Adam’s casting coach business to the point that an entire Reddit thread is dedicated to figuring out the tea.

“Was this a shot at Adam?” is the thread’s title, and the top comment responded, “Don’t see how it couldn’t be.” Even still, while some people have voiced their discomfort with Adam’s coaching business, most who dislike it don’t fully understand what he offers and how he helps potential applicants.

Adam Klein is a casting coach, but he has no direct line to CBS’s casting department.

When the news broke that three of Adam’s clients made it onto Survivor, some people furiously said that there’s now “no point” for them to apply without Adam’s help if they’re competing with the advice of a former Survivor winner. But Adam makes it very clear that he doesn’t talk to the casting department or to Jeff Probst.

His job is as a casting coach — he simply helps people find what makes them unique and what their story is. In some ways, he’s like a college essay coach. Students often need guidance on what story to tell to get into their dream college, and their parents will often pay for a coaching service. Similarly, Adam helps people figure out how to best tell their story in three minutes and make their video stand out to the casting gods.

But what Jesse said is true to a degree. No one needs to pay for Adam’s casting service, which costs about $300, to get on CBS’s shows. And for those of us who are natural storytellers who can take Jesse’s blanket advice — be yourself in good lighting, etc. — we don’t need Adam’s help. But some great potential applicants can really benefit from a little coaching, and there’s no harm in asking for it.

Adam basically helps each of his clients make a video and then coaches them through the casting process. But he can’t magically get anyone on Survivor — they still need to have the personality that casting is looking for. Adam can’t change anyone’s personality, nor does he want to. But for instance, his client, Brandon, applied for years before he was finally cast in Season 45.

Clearly, Adam’s coaching service helped Brandon. And with a success rate of three contestants out of 17, Adam knows what he’s doing. At the same time, Jesse probably doesn’t want people to be discouraged or to overpay for services they don’t need. He doesn’t want to raise the barrier of entry, especially financially. The question still remains, if Jesse’s statement was a personal dig at Adam. And unfortunately, we’ll never know the answer.

Woman Accidentally Zeroes out Entire Store Inventory at New Job

Published

on

We’ve all made mistakes at work, but (hopefully) none this bad. This woman was just following directions, but the results were disastrous.

TikTok is here for the good: cute dog videos, inspirational quotes, tarot readings. TikTok is also here for the bad. We don’t mean bad content necessarily, but like people sharing their bad experiences. While some of them are incredibly sad, others can just make us feel a bit better about ourselves … because at least it didn’t happen to us.

Article continues below advertisement

That might sound harsh but you all know the feeling when you see something and you think, “At least it wasn’t me.” That is exactly what we thought when a woman shared how she accidentally zeroed out the inventory at her store.

Here’s what happened.

This woman accidentally zeroed out her entire store inventory!

TikTok user @2beach2surf took to the app to describe what happened to her at work that day. The video starts with her saying, “I do inventory now. I go in early and I do inventory which works out great. It’s great, right? It’s great. It’s all great. It’s all great.” It soon becomes clear that she’s being sarcastic and her day was actually not that great.

Article continues below advertisement

“Today is my first day to do it on my own,” she continues. “I followed my little sheet of paper. I trust that whoever made the f—— piece of paper knew what they were talking about. You would think right?”

The woman continues saying that, “I followed it to a T. Very literal. Everything that f—— piece of paper said to do, I did cause I’m a little A student … I just do what I’m told. I did everything the paperwork said including click a button. Click a button that says ‘zero all.’ It said right on the paperwork ‘click it,’ so I clicked it.”

At this point, anyone who has worked retail (or who understands what the phrase “zero all” means) is probably having a panic attack. And let me tell you, friends — that reaction is completely warranted. Watch the video to hear the whole story:

The woman then describes how she, “knew immediately that something wasn’t right,” even though she had just been following instructions. She couldn’t stop thinking about it so she decided to tell the manager what happened. The manager freaked out and told her that she shouldn’t have clicked “zero all,” and that you have to “filter it by brand,” — even though that wasn’t written on the instruction sheet.

The manager then told her that she “zeroed out the store’s entire inventory.” The woman is very noticeably frustrated and fighting back tears in her eyes recalling what happened. The woman says that no one can buy anything because it all says zero.

The woman told her manager, “That’s cool. Let me know the right way to do it next time, k?”

Now, obviously, we’ve all made mistakes at our jobs before — nobody’s perfect! Until the day that robots take over every single job in existence, we’re going to have to allow for some level of human error. Still, even though it’s a perfectly normal occurrence, it’s easy to imagine how awful this TikToker must have felt as soon as she realized her error.

Article continues below advertisement

And the error wasn’t even really her fault, as she points out in her video! We’re laying the blame for this one squarely at the feet of whoever created that piece of paper that tells people to click “zero all”!

Article continues below advertisement

Many of the commenters pointed out that the “zero all” button really shouldn’t even exist, or at least shouldn’t give one person the ability to completely delete 100 percent of the information without some kind of “are you sure you want to do that?” option.

Viewers were also super sympathetic to the TikToker’s plight. “Rough days at work are the worst. Just the worst,” one wrote. “Affects mood, self-esteem, outlook on life. I’m so sorry.”

Article continues below advertisement

On the bright side, this could be one way to ensure that you remain employed for a good long while. Someone is going to have to recount all of that stock, after all! Another silver lining is the fact that she’ll probably never have a worse day than this one. It’s all up from here!

Woman Warns Influencers About Job Company Offering AI Clones

Published

on

When a social media influencer was contacted by a brand offering a ton of money for an AI clone of her, it was definitely too good to be true.

According to Forbes, there are at least nine advantages to using artificial intelligence (AI). They range from “reducing human error” to performing “risky and perilous tasks efficiently.” While I know that’s true in my brain, every story that comes out seems to be negative which adds more fearful fuel to my paranoid pyre.

Article continues below advertisement

One harrowing use of AI is making the rounds on TikTok and I’m not kidding when I say, this is a top five nightmare scenario for me. TikToker @adminandeve, real name Eve, was one of the first influencers I came across who was warning others about this trap. Apparently a brand is offering heaps of money in exchange for an AI clone of content creators with huge platforms. If it sounds like a Faustian bargain, it’s probably a Faustian bargain.

Article continues below advertisement

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Eve Pena wants to help you find a job, and a decent existence. She’s a self-described career coach who wants to help people find employment that allows them to “live your life, pursue your passions, and pay you a thriving wage. Life is too short to work 14 days straight and take a vacation every three years,” per her website.

She offers a wide array of services that include but aren’t limited to punching up your resume, revamping your LinkedIn profile, and writing a cover letter that actually works. She will also give general career advice as needed. As Eve tells it, she “went from customer service to corporate to six figures in only four years as an assistant.” It’s safe to say, she knows how to get things done and can sniff out a scam.

Article continues below advertisement

That’s why she popped onto her TikTok to warn CareerTok and her fellow influencers of a pretty terrifying offer. “Over the next week or two you’re going to see influencers peddling a highly unethical, and really dangerous career-based service,” she claims. She knows this because that comany was “stupid enough to offer it” to her.

Article continues below advertisement

These guys must be desperate to spread the word about their services because they offered Eve what amounts to 25 times her rent in New York City. An apartment on the cheap side in NYC runs about $2,000, which means Eve might have been able to make as much as $50,000. So, who is spending this much money and what’s the catch?

The spiel went something like this: How would you feel if you never had to give an interview as you yourself ever again, and if we could create a clone for you by using your voice and likeness that would sit on Zoom calls and get you a stellar interview, and get you the job.” I’m not sure we’re at Zoom clones yet. This doesn’t feel right and is definitely the plot to Multiplicity.

Article continues below advertisement

Apparently they are promising the very same things Eve does as a Career Coach, so I can see why she is especially rattled by this. To get more information, Eve suggests they schedule a Zoom call. This of course begs the question, will Eve be speaking with a real person?

Article continues below advertisement

She comes in hot and points out the fact that this is very unethical. “What do you say to that,” she asks the woman (AI bot?) on the Zoom call. “I feel like it’s unethical too,” she replied. “Don’t worry we will create talking points for you so you can answer the hate comments and deflect as needed.” It’s definitely a bad sign when an organization is expecting negative reactions.

After doing some digging into the company, Eve learned the CEO is based on Dubai but couldn’t find a name. “So, he’s a Saudi billionaire,” joked Eve. Their plan is to target the American market via influencers with enormous platforms which Eve feels could also pose a threat to national security. Honestly, a bunch of influencer clones are only threatening to the wellness market.

Article continues below advertisement

The brand in question could be Forever Voices.

Eve doesn’t mention the name of the brand that contacted her, but it might be Forever Voices. They’ve already been dealing with influencers like Caryn Marjorie who partnered with the company and, “for a dollar a minute, fans she might never have otherwise had the time to meet could instead chat with Marjorie’s digital double,” reported the Los Angeles Times.

This is framed as romantic and “incorporates aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy into its conversations.” Conversations did get weird which makes sense says Amy Webb, chief executive of the consulting firm Future Today Institute. “We’re talking about an AI system [where] theoretically the goal is to keep people on as long as possible so that you continue earning money,” she said. “Which means that it’s likely going to start incentivizing behavior that we probably would not want in the real world.”

Although artificial intelligence is deeply rooted in machines and technology, one’s humanity must play a part in regulating. There are people like Eve who are concerned this is a bit like selling your soul while folks like Caryn “see AI as a tool, and it’s a tool that helps creators create better content.” Maybe Goethe was right when he wrote in Faust: E’en hell hath its peculiar laws.

According to Us Weekly, the since-deleted post showed him and Charly at the beach, with him captioning the photo “my favorite.”

During their relationship, Charly was 19, and Robert was 35. The couple’s age gap was often discussed on Reddit and other social media platforms, with fans criticizing them. In May 2020, Charly announced via Instagram that the pair had decided to part ways after three years of dating.

“I never sing on here, but I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my relationship since moving,” Charly shared in an Instagram Story (via Reddit). “And yes, we are no longer together. This isn’t an easy time for either of us, but we ended on good terms and want the best for each other.”

After her split from Robert, Charly started dating a TikTok influencer, Tayler Holder. The two started seeing each other in October 2020 after his public breakup with fellow influencer Sommer Ray. However, the pair endured highs and lows, ending their on-again-off-again romance in late 2021.

While Charly has confirmed her relationship with Robert and Tayler in the past, rumors have swirled that she dated other influencers but kept it on the hush-hush.
