Why Is the Return YouTube Dislike Extension Not Working?

Published

on

The Return YouTube Dislike extension allowed viewers to see how many dislikes a video has, even after YouTube hid that info intentionally.

The Gist:

  • The Return YouTube Dislike extension allowed users to see how many dislikes a video has, even though that information is hidden by YouTube.
  • The feature appears to be broken, but a fix is coming that should restore it to functionality.
  • It’s unclear how the extension broke, but if YouTube has become aware of it, the fix is unlikely to work indefinitely.

Some people weren’t thrilled about this change, though, which is why they installed the browser extension Return YouTube Dislike, which gives users the ability to see the dislike count again. Unfortunately, those users have been in for a rude awakening recently after discovering that the feature is no longer working.

Why is Return YouTube Dislike not working?

Although it’s impossible to say for sure, it seems likely that the extension is no longer working because YouTube discovered the extension and has prevented the information from being visible through it. Those who created the extension may eventually be able to add an update that keeps it working, but in the meantime, many who use the dislike feature to determine whether videos are worth watching have been frustrated.

“It’s so dumb to me that we even have to rely and put pressure on people to make and update this extension for a feature that never should have been removed in this manner to begin with,” one person wrote on Reddit.

“Same issue here. Without dislike ratio YT is just not worth your time,” another person added.

Clearly, the issue is both widespread and deeply annoying to the many people who rely on it as they browse YouTube.

A fix is in progress.

Although it’s not widely available yet, a fix for the extension appears to be in progress, and you can now manually install the latest version through Github. Eventually, a more widespread update is likely to be rolled out that will ensure the extension keeps working moving forward, but YouTube seems likely to continue to press the issue to ensure that the dislike button remains hidden as it was originally intended to be.

Some users are certainly furious over the change, but it seems unlikely that these extensions will remain useful indefinitely, especially if YouTube is vigilant about the problem. While many think the dislike button should never have been removed to begin with, they seem unlikely to win this fight with YouTube.

YouTube has made plenty of changes designed to make it a more friendly and kind place for users, but there are clearly some people who miss the old YouTube.

Ralph’s cause of death seems to have been heart failure that was caused by the lymphoma, which Howard added was made worse by his friend’s refusal to address his health or attempt to seek treatment. Even as Howard expressed his anger that his friend had died at just 58 years old, he also spent plenty of time paying tribute to Ralph and to the friendship the two of them shared.

Howard Stern knew Ralph for 40 years.

As Howard explained on his show, he and Ralph had a friendship that spanned the majority of both of their lives.

“He loved me,” Howard said. “Ralph was a trustworthy, dear friend who made me laugh every time I was with him.”

Howard also said that Ralph frequently accompanied him for his TV appearances, including many of the tapings of America’s Got Talent.

Howard even went so far as to credit Ralph with helping him to meet his wife. Howard explained that it was Ralph’s urging that Howard attend the party where he would ultimately meet his wife, Beth.

John Stamos, a frequent guest of Howard’s and also a personal friend, was the first to announce that Ralph had died.

“At the painfully young age of 58, my dear friend, Ralph Cirella, was suddenly taken from us, leaving us all in a state of profound shock,” John wrote. “He was, without a doubt, a one-of-a-kind soul.”

Howard said that he and Ralph had spoken the night before he died. Howard was hopeful Ralph would survive his cancer treatment.

  • They move in together in the Dec. 6 episode of MAFS.
  • Clare and Cameron have a hard time getting on the same page about intimacy and affection.

Marrying a stranger, honeymooning with them, and moving in together right after that is hard. Add to that the expected pressure of affection and intimacy and things are even more difficult. Which is exactly what Clare and Cameron are dealing with an an exclusive clip from the Dec. 6 episode of Married at First Sight.

In a way, their issues aren’t a total surprise. They’ve separately expressed concern about affection with one another before. And things weren’t easy on their honeymoon. But now, they meet with Dr. Pepper to sort things out and see if they can work on it before it becomes an even bigger issue.

Do Clare and Cameron share an attraction for each other on ‘Married at First Sight’?

Not everyone on Married at First Sight feels that immediate connection or attraction for their partner. And even when they do, it still doesn’t always work out for them. When it comes to Clare and Cameron, the biggest issue is giving and receiving affection. When one of them feels they should be getting it from the other person, the other assumes the same thing. For Cameron, it’s about getting more in return from Clare.

Article continues below advertisement

“I think the thing that Clare and I maybe struggled with the most during the honeymoon was trying to build a comfortable space for physical intimacy,” Cameron tells Dr. Pepper in the MAFS clip.

The issue doesn’t seem to be that there is a lack of attraction between Clare and Cameron. But instead, it looks like Clare is just having a harder time fully opening up and she needs that strong emotional connection first.

Clare agrees that it has been difficult for her to express her “love and affection.” But for Cameron, just hearing Clare explain why she is moving at a slow pace, which includes past relationships and intimacy there, is enough for him. And, it seems, this open line of communication could be just what they need.

Most ‘Married at First Sight’ couples are slow moving when it comes to intimacy.

Despite some MAFS couples hitting it off right away some seasons, they don’t always jump into bed together on their wedding nights or even during their honeymoons. Most participants are quick to remain guarded when it comes to actually hooking up with their new spouse. And if Clare and Cameron are dealing with that just a tad more than others, it just means they’re taking things slowly.

Watch Married at First Sight on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
