A day earlier, Kat had uploaded a video of herself and her daughters reacting to the news that Kalade’s entire product range had sold out within ten minutes of launching.

On Tuesday Kat revealed her products were selling so fast that she needed to hire extra help. ‘Kalade is hiring. Casual employment. Packing orders, assisting with customer emails, PA to Kat,’ the brand posted to Instagram Stories

The updates are a far cry from the tearful TikTok video Kat shared last week.

‘I spent most of the night last night balling my eyes out… I’m going to star crying again,’ Kat wept in the clip, which was recorded on August 30 2023.

‘Anna’s amazing obviously, and I just feel like I failed without even having the chance to start. I know that sounds so stupid, but that’s how I’m feeling.’

Kat has also boasted about the sell-out success of her brand since, taking to Instagram Stories on Tuesday night with a photo of her husband packing orders in their loungeroom

A day earlier, Kat had uploaded a video of herself and her daughters reacting to the news that Kalade’s entire product range had sold out within ten minutes of launching

Wiping away tears, Kat said she felt ‘defeated’ and ‘scared’ by the prospect of competing with Anna, who launched her brand on September 10 2023.

She went on to praise her husband for supporting her through such a difficult time, before reminding her fans that ‘staring a business is not for the weak’.

Unimpressed TikTok users have since branded Kat’s video as ‘embarrassing’ and ‘cringeworthy’, with one commenting: ‘That to me is selfishness and jealousy… can’t she be happy that others are successful? Ew.’

Unimpressed TikTok users have since branded Kat’s video as ‘embarrassing’ and ‘cringeworthy’, with one commenting: ‘That to me is selfishness and jealousy… can’t she be happy that others are successful? Ew’

‘Right? Like, I love her but she didn’t have to make a whole video about this,’ someone agreed.

Yet another added: ‘Imagine a grown woman. A supposedly CEO of a company, making a crying video because of other people’s business. What is happening with society?’

It was this comment which struck a nerve with Kat, as she returned to TikTok days later with a video responding to the user who wrote it.

‘You’ve probably seen the videos and comments of people mocking me for crying. People saying I’m manipulating people, that I’m embarrassing, that I’m fake crying,’ Kat fumed.

‘This is what I do. I share my life with you, and that is exactly what I’m doing with business. Except I’ve only been able to start posting about it now.’

Kat has shared a TikTok video defended herself against claims that she was ‘fake crying’ and ‘manipulating’ her fans

Kat went on to point out that everyone – including CEOs – have feelings, and she has every right to be emotional given that she invested ‘all her money’ and ‘remortgaged her house’ to launch her business.

‘Just imagine for a second you took out that much money to invest in something and then a month later someone has the same idea,’ Kat said.

‘I recorded that to maybe help other small business owners out there and let them know that they are not alone.’

Meanwhile, yet another skincare brand owner has been dragged into the drama after she unwittingly launched a new product on the same day as Kalade hit shelves.

Rachael Wilde, who launched her acne-targeting skincare brand tbh Skincare in March 2020, took to TikTok on Monday to confirm she had no idea that Kalade was also launching that day.

‘I just want to stop all this chatter right now because I am such a big believer that there is room for everyone in this world,’ Rachael said.

She then appeared to take a dig at Kat’s crying video, saying: ‘We are not about to start spreading negativity about another amazing female-founded skincare brand.

‘We are OK to be launching at the same time as them. It is possible for someone to jump online to two sites and shop simultaneously.’

Rachael’s followers have since praised her for such a ‘classy’ response.

‘This deserves a big round of applause. This is how these things should be handled,’ one user wrote, as another agreed: ‘The professionalism and support for others instead of crying poor me is [kiss emoji]’

‘@Kat Clark debería ver este vídeo y tomar nota. «Ella no apoya tanto a Anna Paul», añadió alguien más.
