Sinead O’Connor will make her final journey from Bray, Co Wicklow seafront in Ireland at 10.30am this morning, Imelda May typed in a post shared to her Instagram.

After the public pay their respects, the Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker will be buried in a private service attended by close friends and family, following her death on July 26.

Singer Imelda, 49, typed in view of her 131,000 followers: “Sinead’s final journey tomorrow from 10.30am Bray seafront. Line the streets.”

In response, one user wrote: “How can we in London also pay our respects for her tomorrow?”(sic)

A second typed: “Why haven’t RTE done something in her memory… She was so loved by so many people. A true HERO.”

While a third commented: “Let’s show Sinead that we loved her so much.”

The cortege is to travel along the seafront in Bray, starting at the Harbour Bar and continuing to the other end of the Strand Road, before continuing on to a private burial.

It will pass by her former home on the Strand Road, Montebello, where she lived for 15 years and where people have been leaving flowers since her death.

The Irish Grammy-winning singer, aged 56, was found unresponsive by police at her south-east London home last month.

The news of her death sparked a host of tributes from fans and famous artists from across the world, including Russell Crowe, Annie Lennox, Cyndi Lauper and Sir Bob Geldof.

Several gatherings have also been held in the days since Sinead’s death in Dublin, Belfast and London, where members of the public paid tribute to her legacy as a musician and activist.

A statement issued on Sunday on behalf of her family encouraged people to line Bray’s seafront for a “last goodbye” to the singer.

“Sinead loved living in Bray and the people in it,” a statement said.

«With this procession, her family would like to acknowledge the outpouring of love for her from the people of Co Wicklow and beyond, since she left last week to go to another place.

“The Gardai have asked that people gather, if they would like to say a last goodbye to the singer, from 10.30am on Tuesday along the Bray seafront.”

On Sunday, a large tribute to Sinead appeared on a hillside in Bray, reading “ÉIRE SINÉAD” with a heart emoji between the two words, the word “Eire” being the Irish name for Ireland.

The tribute was set up by creative agency The Tenth Man, in collaboration with mural specialists Mack Signs.

“We just wanted to take the opportunity to mark the moment with a bold statement that symbolises what she meant to this little country of ours,” Richard Seabrooke, executive creative director of The Tenth Man, told CNN in a statement.
